How To Reset Your GFI

Sometimes when it rains the lights may turn off all of the sudden, if that happens we have put together some best practices on how to get the lights back on as soon as possible. Please read below to find out more.
Where’s My GFI Located?
The most common places are the garage, by the front door, by the pool pump, also may even be where the timer is plugged in at.
What Does A GFI Look Like?
To Reset the GFI simply PUSH IN the “RESET” Button. If the indicator light TURNS GREEN and/or the RESET button stays pushed in, you’re all good to! If the Reset button pops back out right away or does not reset at all, either the breaker is tripped or there’s too much moisture/water near the affected electrical connections. Please wait until the rain has stopped and it’s been dry for awhile before attempting to reset again. If the issue persists after it’s dry out please let us know via text (for quickest response), you can also email or call give us a call as well. and we’ll have someone come by to fix what’s going on.

It’s Raining and My Lights Turned Off! What Do I Do?
On days/nights either during or after it rains you may have seen that the Christmas lights might be off, no need to worry we’ll show you in the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yj3lMEvQxA  (you can also click the “play” button at the bottom of this post) on how to remedy the situation.
Please Keep This In Mind When Resetting the GFI:
When it’s raining outside and the lights turn off all of the sudden, that’s your electrical system protecting itself from the outside water and moisture. It’s good that the GFI system is doing it’s job, but not very convenient for those of us who want the lights on regardless (us included).
PLEASE NOTE: If we try to reset the GFI while it’s already wet and raining, it’s just going to keep tripping and the lights still won’t be on.Please wait until it’s dry (preferably the next day), to give the lights a chance to dry out and then reset the GFI and you should be good to go!
PLEASE ALSO NOTE THIS IF YOU HAVE FRIDGES/FREEZERS/ANY IMPORTANT APPLIANCES ON A GFI OUTLET: If you have any appliances plugged into your garage and your lights aren’t on there’s a chance that those may not be on either. It’s common for an outside outlet to be on the same circuit as the outlets in the garage (we’re not sure why it’s not separated, sometimes they are it’s just not standard). If you’re trying to reset the GFI and the outlet keeps turning off, you can disconnect the timers plugged into the Christmas Lights outside and the GFI should reset and working normally.
